Time for another schooling!Reader comment on item: How the West Could Lose Submitted by Noah Wilk (United States), Dec 30, 2006 at 04:15 Well Safraz, you force me to give you another schooling. You wrote: "You have a severe lack of perspective." On the contrary, I have a very wide persepctive and I deal only with reality, not with belief systems or interpretations or biases. You, on the other hand, are viewing everything through the narrow belief system of Islam. Next, you wrote: "If you were around during the height of the Ottoman Empire - when it was the world's center of science, medicine, and the arts - and when at the same time Europeans were at constant war with each other living in backwards filth infested villages and towns - you would probably be arguing that Islam was superior because its fruits were better than Christianity's." And once again I offer you the example I am best informed on, being an expert on Ayurveda. The Muslims invaded India, stole and bastardized Ayurvedic Medicine, re-named it Muslim Unnani Medicine, and claimed the credit. In other words, they praised themselves for someone else's efforts. Islam has a history of this...of invading, stealing, sacking, then claiming credit for accomplishments. If I were around at the time, I would be criticizing Muslims for trying to obliterate Indian Ayurvedic Medicine while stealing it and claiming it as their own Unanni medicine. The same thing I criticize today. You wrote: "You would've been as wrong then, as you are wrong now. History is not over." I would not have been wrong then, as I am provably not wrong now. Muslims did steal the cultural achievements of others and claim the credit, as is proven by the histories of Ayurvedic and Unnani medicines. And you're right...history is not over. We are discovering achievements of astounding knowledge going further back in time every year. We know now, for example, that Stonehenge was built by Eurpoeans probably before the Great Pyramid was built, and long before Islam existed. We are finding plenty of such evidence of advanced cultures in European lands going back to prehistoric times. All of this predates Islam. Your next argument is also invalid: "Furthermore, you somehow dissassociate Jim Jones and Jonestown from Christianity. Jones was a Christian - does that make Christianity a religion of violence?" I never dissociated Jim Jones from Christianity. In fact, I never mentioned JIm Jones. However, I will address that now, since you brought it up. Jim Jones was not Christian. He was a cult leader who believed he was god, and formed a cult based on quasi-communist principles and his own insane god-complex. And (quite unlike the situation with Muslims) when his evil ways were discovered, the Christian church denounced him and declared him evil. Had he been Muslim, he would have been praised as a martyr and Muslims around the world would be naming their children "Jim" in his honor, as is their wont when it comes to praising evil men. You continue: "Or does that make Jim Jones a radical Christian who is to be condemned, much like bin Laden and his cohorts are radical Muslims to be condemend?" And once again, when Christians (or pseudo- or ex- Christians) engage in evil acts, the Christian church and Christians around the world strongly denounce those persons and those acts. They condemn, denounce, and vilify them. When Muslims engage in terrorism and genocide, they name their children after the perpetrators. Note how popular the name "Osama" became in Islamic countries after the cowardly and heinous 9/11 terrorist attacks. That right there shows you the difference between civilized religions and evil death cults. Even the Nazis did not plaster posters of their evil members and praise them as heroes the way the Muslims do! Your comparison is sorely lacking and inaccurate. You also wrote: "And let me ask you - when last has Muslim tried to convert you?" Never, because the day a Muslim tries to convert me by force is the day there will be one less Muslim wandering around this planet. However, an entire Islamic organization (CAIR, the largest Islamic group in America) has publicly declared that its goal is to be the only religion in America. I quote: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to be dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth." - Omar Ahmad, CAIR Chairman In other words, Islam is in America to convert or subjugate me. I rest my case. As for your "peaceful quote", I offer this: "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them." (8:12-17) "Surely they who disbelieve in the communications of Allah - they shall have a severe punishment; and Allah is Mighty, the lord of retribution." (3:4) "Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (2:216) "Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (5:51) "Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. (9:121) "Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (9:27) We can go on and on with quotes like this. We all know that the violent quotes dominate Islam and that's where they get their "justification", from the Koran and the Hadith. In any case, I am judging Islam by its actions worldwide. And those actions are vile in the extreme. I wonder if you can address those issues honestly?
