To Mo and the right to condemnReader comment on item: How the West Could Lose Submitted by Plato (United Arab Emirates), Jan 26, 2007 at 09:18 Your words in italics, Mo. "I think that Jihad as concept cannot be categorised as anything less that what we in the West would consider our legitimate right, the right to defend our land from invaders, the right to drive or force the occupiers out, also the right to obey orders of the president or leader to go to war..."Mo, let us begin at the beginning. When the Prophet attacked Mecca what was he defending. When he set out to capture Abu Sufyan's caravan which led to Badr what was he defending. Did the Meccans have a legitimate right to resist the invader? And did they have the right to obey Abu Lahab, who is cursed in the Koran itself? Perhaps it was not an attack, in your mind it was the Prophet trying to "change the political dynamics" of Mecca or maybe to make the citizens "sharia compliant". Very funny that. "...there are limits and boundaries set out by Shariah, as for the right to defend land from invaders and repel occupation it must be exercised within these set boundaries of not killing the innocent, also not harming non-combatants, especially women and children. Not to mutilate the dead, to treat the POWs with respect and care, to give them the food the Muslims eat, to give them the reception the Muslims would give themselves and all this is demonstrated in the life of the Prophet (p) as well." Now a few questions about those words. Does your sharia allow taking of booty, does it allow enslaving the conquered, does it allow chopping off the head of the enemy after he has surrendered peacefully, can women and children be taken as slaves and kept as concubines. Can the slaves taken in battle and raids be sold off in the slave markets. Honestly, Mo, can you answer no to all those questions? Let me answer. The answers to all of the above is a big YES. You know it is true Mo, so I won't waste time picking out the Koranic verses and hadiths. Revisit the Banu Quraiza story and read all of the above. Not to mutilate the dead, to treat the POWs with respect and care, to give them the food the Muslims eat, to give them the reception the Muslims would give themselves and all this is demonstrated in the life of the Prophet (p) as well." That is a fairy tale you are asking us to believe. Just one example will do. Since you have read the Koran thoroughly you must have come across the verse telling the Muslims to cut off the limbs of people on opposite ends for the crime of fitnah. That does qualify as mutilation of the living. Why do Muslims bring up this mutilation of the dead as a big crime? I suspect it is because mutilation of the living is allowed in the Koran and Hadith. The dead can't feel a thing you know. But of course you have the Prophet himself speaking to the dead and there is the punishment of the grave, so after all you Muslims probably know something more than us kaffirs. Scary. Your reply about suicide bombings sounds like nit-picking by the ulema about the admissibility of suicide for self-defence and as an instrument of war without any clear conclusion. Suicide bombers can now can go about their work with a clear conscience. "There is only one way to attain paradise in Islam, which is to attain the pleasure of Allah (s). There is an important concept in Islam, which is that no Muslim will ever attain paradise through their good deeds, however good they may be. That may sound funny, but in essence it is through the mercy of God Almighty that people attain paradise" You say that not attaining paradise through good deeds sounds funny. Ha. Ha. And Ho, Ho, what is even funnier is that you can attain paradise by doing what is universally considered bad, killing. Is that funny enough for you? Take out your Koran and confirm these verses: 009.029 : Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection. 009.038 : O you who believe! What (excuse) have you that when it is said to you: Go forth in Allah's way, you should incline heavily to earth; are you contented with this world's life instead of the hereafter? But the provision of this world's life compared with the hereafter is but little. 009.039 : If you do not go forth, He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you, and you will do Him no harm; and Allah has power over all things. 009.041 : Go forth light and heavy, and strive hard in Allah's way with your property and your persons; this is better for you, if you know 002.216 : Fighting is enjoined on you, and it is an object of dislike to you; and it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know. .:4:74 Let those fight in the cause of God Who sell the life of this world for the hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of God,- whether he is slain or gets victory - Soon shall We give him a reward of great (value). 9:111 GOD has bought from the believers their lives and their money in exchange for Paradise. Thus, they fight in the cause of GOD, willing to kill and get killed. Such is His truthful pledge in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran - and who fulfills His pledge better than GOD? You shall rejoice in making such an exchange. This is the greatest triumph. 009:088 But the Messenger and those who believe with him strive hard with their property and their persons; and these it is who shall have the good things and these it is who shall be successful. 009.089 : Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them; that is the great achievement. For arguments sake let us admit this had relevance only for prophetic times. But you cannot argue against the fact the Allah was offering paradise for killing his own his own creatures who had gone astray. Here you find god assuring people of paradise for killing and being killed in his cause. He threatens and cajols poor misguided souls who resist the idea of killing his fellow men that he will punish them and replace them with some other chosen people if they did not go and kill. Allah tells them in 2:216 that fighting is good for them. Mo isn't it absolutely hilarious that you can guarantee paradise by killing in Allah's way?
