NoahReader comment on item: How the West Could Lose Submitted by Sohail (United Kingdom), Apr 12, 2007 at 09:20 Unfortunately for you, Sohail, there are people like me who revel in shooting down your pathetic propaganda attempts. How life must suck for you, knowing there are people like me who refuse to back down. Unfortunately for you, youre not that person. First of all, yes, the UN and the US placed sanctions on Saddam's Iraq. And who sided with America and the UN on sanctions during the first Iraq war? Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Morocco, Oman, Syria, Turkey, UAE, Qatar, Egypt. All MUSLIM COUNTRIES! They were not the ones who banned these items because of the sanctions: Second, you neglect to address the fact that, as is usually the case with sanctions on countries run by tyrants, the suffering of the general public occurred because the dictator was diverting relief funds and using all the country's wealth to protect himself, to splurge on extravagant luxuries, and to hoard the money while he watched his country starve. Saddam caused the suffering, not the sanctions. He purposely did so in order to use it as propaganda against the USA. This is how tyrants work. They make their subjects suffer in order to gain their own goals. This is what Denis Halliday said about Saddam blocking food supplies: "There's no basis for that assertion at all. The Secretary-General has reported repeatedly that there is no evidence that food is being diverted by the government in Baghdad. We have 150 observers on the ground in Iraq. Say the wheat ship comes in from god knows where, in Basra, they follow the grain to some of the mills, they follow the flour to the 49,000 agents that the Iraqi government employs for this programme, then they follow the flour to the recipients and even interview some of the recipients – there is no evidence of diversion of foodstuffs whatever ever in the last two years. The Secretary-General would have reported that." Maybe I also forgot to mention the fact that Saddam Hussein created a western style legal system, making Iraq the only country in the Persian Gulf not to follow sharia law. He also abolished sharia courts. Maybe I also forgot to mention the fact that Saddam war against Iran was supported by the U.S government and it was in between 1980-1988 he committed war crimes against the Shias and Kurds. This is what Denis Halliday said about why the west didn't remove Saddam: "Bush or somebody in the United States made a decision not to overthrow Saddam Hussein. What is the motive? Traditionally the motive was that they needed him to provide stability in Iraq, to keep Iraq together, to avoid the Kurds going their way and the Shia perhaps going there way in the South, and so on; and the Shia of course would threaten Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, being Shia as opposed to Suni – so he's a good enemy this man, he's great! Said Aburish in his new book has said that the CIA has worked with him for 30 years. So there is a ploy to keep him in power, but of course to destroy him at the same time, to enable him to survive without having any capacity to threaten his neighbours. If you look at the sales of US military hardware, Saddam is the best salesman in town. I think over $100 billion has been sold to the Saudis, Kuwaitis, the Gulf states, Turkey, Israel, and so on. It's thanks to Saddam. Just last week they sold $6.2 billion of military aircraft to the United Arab Emirates. What on earth does a little country need hardware like that for? Saddam provides that – he should be getting a cut." Let's move on to your other comments: Your Christianity/Communism analysis is as flawed, erroneous, and simplistic as an argument can be and is not even worth commenting on. Suffice it to say that, as always happens when debating Muslims, the Muslims quote the Bible without even a cursory understanding of what's being written. Wildly inaccurate Biblical references are par for the course when "debating" Muslims (it's usually more accurate to call it a trip to the woodshed). So why don't you explain to us Muslims on what those verses mean. If you can't then I will give you a list of websites which says that communism got his ideas from the New Testament. "Christianity is the invention of sick brains." "So it's not opportune to hurl ourselves now into a struggle with the Churches. The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death." But he also said this: "Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord." Here's a well done webpage that can clarify the matter for you and expose you to the truth: http://www.davnet.org/kevin/essays/hitler.html Here is a website which can expose you to the truth: http://nobeliefs.com/Hitler1.htm I guess you're forced to believe the drivel you wrote though. After all, the New Testament made Christianity peaceful and resulted in countries with vast freedom, such as the United States. The Koran on the other hand has only resulted in countries that are stinking 3rd World cesspools and terrorist dens. Of course the NT did that: 1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. Romans 13:1-5 This verse says that a Christian should not rebel against a government because it is like God's government. So too those Christians who rebelled against Hitler are going to hell and the American Christians of the revolutions who rebelled against Britain are going to hell. Sohail
