Trends can always change... but I certainly see your point. And it's also worth noting that on a larger scale, Arik Sharon also saw cause to abandon Greater Israel because of demographics. Demographics should never be ignored when making decisions on the future of a Nation-State. They're not everything, of course, but to ignore them could lead to disaster.
