Article fails to cite reasons Road Map already doomedReader comment on item: "A Shot at Peace" Submitted by Lori-Ann Bernath (United States), Jul 8, 2003 at 14:40 Your listed concerns are accurate. However, you failed to note that the Bush administration seems to have ignored Abbas's promise not to use force against "Palestinian" terror groups and failed to note that incitement on PA-controlled media still occur. "Palestinian" textbooks still delegitimate the existence of Israel or the "zionist entity."President Bush has already proven that he will not demand that the "Palestinians" must adhere to peace initiative requirements. He (and Sharon) stated that there would be no negotiations with Arafat. Bush said that a new leadership, untainted by terror, would be necessary for his administration to work towards establishing a Palestinian state. Yet, he and Sharon are negotiating with Arafat. It was Arafat who hand-picked Abbas as the "prime minister" of the "Palestinians". Abbas and Arafat are working hand-in-hand to repeat Oslo. The new "Palestinian constitution" places most power in the hands of the "president" (Arafat), not of the "prime minister. Reports indicate that Hamas and Islamic Jihad are using their "cease-fire" (hudna) time to rearm and rescheme. No efforts seem to be made by Abbas or the PA to stop this. The PA, allegedly under Abbas, "arrests" terrorists that are thwarted from committing terrorist acts and then releases these people back to try again to kill as many Israelis as possible. I think you ... thereby gave the "Road Map" more credence than it deserves and you give the Bush administration more support than they deserve.
