Staying Focused on the Root Cause

It's refreshing to hear Mr. Pipes state again that the most fundamental issue in this conflict is the right of Israel to exist. The Palestian terrorists continue to fight because they think they can win (with the support of the various Muslim states in the region). All of the discussions about settlements, cease-fires, and the "right of return" are wasted effort until the states that support the Palestinian terrorists come to accept Israel.

I'm somewhat worried that the administration seems to be devoting more resources to the "road map" than to pressuring Syria and Saudi Arabia and supporting the reformers in Iran. If the administration would work first towards removing this base of support for the terorists, the situation in Israel would improve on its own.
