Shoeless George BushReader comment on item: Shoeless George Bush Submitted by barbara (United States), Jul 3, 2007 at 11:56 Today's article fills me with sadness and a general lack of hope. While I hate war, it does become necessary at times and since we're in Iraq, we need to win. That is the only outcome that is acceptable. Loosing in Iraq will mean terrorists attacks everywhere, including here, and they will make 9/11 look small by comparison. I'm not for having a Texan as the next president - they are too involved with the need to sell oil and that means they have to have a working relationship with the Saudi's who laugh as we struggle to free ourselves from their terrorists threats while at the same time taking our money tot the bank as they sell us the oil that pays for the attacks on us and the West. I don't know much about how to fight a war, (which by the way we won in Iraq in week number 3 - its the peace we can't manage to keep) but I know one thing - if you want to win a war you have to inflict more pain on the enemy than they can withstand. In other words, you have to crush your enemy and be sure he doesn't get up to fight another day. This is the reason terrorists exist - they can't stand and fight against an army - obviously in Iraq, they can't stand up against even a weak army. Their only alternative is to commit terrorists acts and wear us down. So what do we do? We can't kill everyone. Well one thing that can and should have been done at least 3 years ago would be to disarm the entire country. House to house, business to business, every basement and back yard, needs to be searched and all weapons confiscated and all who possess those weapons arrested. All weapons include those damn swords too. As disarming the nation proceeds soldiers have to keep the areas cleaned out secure so that new supplies don't get in. While Iraq's borders are far too great to secure, one can secure access to the cities. This too has to be done. Unfortunately, our President is not able or willing, perhaps both, to succeed. And I think its because he has to consider this nation's need for oil and that means the Saudi's. We're told we're fighting for the hearts and minds of .... Well what has anyone done to get those hearts and minds? Have we leafleted the country with pamphlets saying 'Thou Shalt Not Kill Sayeth the Lord Your God" or Islmaic phrases conveying the same message? Not that I've heard of. Have we instituted a butchering industry so that the average man doesn't slaughter the animals he keeps for food, NO - these men grow up killing and think nothing of it. You have to stop killing altogether in order to make it the evil it is. What have we done to stop the indoctrination of the children being taught to hate and kill AMericans and Jews? Nothing I've heard about. Our government, President Bush actually, won't release the over 4 billion dollars to secure the borders. He acutallyl held it up as a bribe to get votes for the invasion bill - I mean Immigration bill he wanted passed. This administration and those before it won't stop the illegal entry into our country knowing that Arab terrorists are coming in too. It's all about the dollar and who will get to spend less on labor even though Americans are losing jobs at an astounding rate. Patriotism stopped being taught in schools decades ago and this is the result - the dollar is all that counts - cheaper labor only produces more profits for business owners, it doesn't produce lower prices for goods and services as we've all seen and will continue to be forced to endure over the years. I guess what I'm saying is there has to be a real effort to stop terrorism and not just the very expensive but minimum effort being made all these years. There has to be a restoration of American patriotism in the truest sense of the words. I don't see it coming. Do you? Why isn't Iraq selling or giving us oil? Why do we absorb the cost of setting them free? Why hasn't the country been disarmed? I'm a registered Republican who is so ashamed of this President's handling of the war in Iraq. And I dread the upcoming elections where the chance of having a Democrat (i.e. traitor to the nation) may get elected - all because Bush can't figure out how to win the war against a bunch of terrorists. I have no faith in my government anymore. Haven't for a long time now. I don't see any reason to change my opinions either.
