WHAT THEN SHOULD WE DO?Reader comment on item: [Brandon Mayfield and] Preempt Terrorists, Or Not? Submitted by Geno M. (United States), Oct 4, 2007 at 15:01 Since there is no clearly discernable point of differentiation between non-violent moderates and potentially-violent Islamists how are we in the politically-correct West to deal with the threat. Anyone within the Ummah who seeks to criticize the Islamists is subject to verbal envenomation--or potentially far worse by their coreligionists. Organizations like CAIR strive to muddy the waters by pointing the finger at the "Islamophobes" rather than dealing with the lethal threat violent Islam poses to freedom loving people everywhere. It is an old trick that works. Blame the victim stridently enough until the perpetrator has carte blanche to strike blows with compete impunity. The trend is clear. We only need eyes to see. If the non-Islamic world remains on the path of weak-kneed, politically-correct submission, then soon we will all be living under Sha'ria. There are several key facts that will influence the way secular Judeo-Christian society may deal with the problem of Islam. \ First, we must acknowledge that any belief system that overtly and enthusiastically promotes suicidal immolation of its own children as a good and holy act is indisputably, unmistakenly, and undeniably evil. There is no excuse. There are no exceptions. Some things are just plain wrong. Yet, that such an belief system as this thrives within Islam suggests that there is something "fundamentally" wrong with Islam in its present form. From our perspective, we must come to see that Islam is "fundamentally" incompatible with secular Judeo-Christian society. Second, since no mechanism within Islam exists to check the bloodthirsty killers running loose and free among them, then an effective mechanism from outside Islam must be brought to bear. If we are to assume this role we must quickly shed the shackles of politically-correct indecisiveness. Or, if we don't, we will politically-correct ourselves into oblivion. Third, as we spin our wheels in the muck of multiculturally-sensitive lather, the Islamists are cleverly exploiting our own weaknesses against us, vis-a-vis CAIR. As any observer of life in Iran, Saudi Arabia or wherever Sha'ria law dominates can attest, no such PC constraints exist. If you don't like the stonings, beheadings, and other medieval atrocities committed in the name of Allah, you speak up at your own peril. Fourth, we in the West are well on our way to dihimitude. Witness the increasingly narrow window within which one may criticize Muhammed in particular and Islam in general. Where in Christianity, Judaism or any other faith does such censorship exist? If one is not free to critically analyze Islam then what but Sha'ria is left. So what then should we do? This is a hard question. But once we stop pretending that Islam is compatible with everything we hold dear (it isn't), we may find the clarity to answer the question.
