For Jennifer: On the NYT & WaPo... And Their Blessed EPIPHANY This Week!

Hi Jennifer:

The questions you ask and posited solutions are the right ones, and I agree we should regularly hear from our Commander in Chief in depth [at least weekly]; Problem is, the "deck is stacked" and the media will not cover anything positive Pres Bush has to say or has done.

Lately he's been trying hard, and IF you can actually get to see an uncut replay on C-SPAN of an entire Statement and Q&A with the WH Press, you can see that he's saying cogent, well thought out and well expressed things...providing facts and informing The People about the economy, progress in Iraq, the international war on terror, and American Interests in general.

Bad news and Body Counts have been Page 1 for the NYTimes, WaPo, LAT, AJ-C, CNBC, MSNBC, ABC,CBS etc for years now. Since the Body Counts are down by @ 2/3, the measurable "turn around" in Kurdistan, Anbar Province and Baghdad have been censored; Nothing visible or audible from these "primary" organs. The weekly Press Conferences President Bush has been holding have been either totally ignored or chopped up and tortured into absurd "sound bites" which only "confirm" the anti-bias/disinformation/mendacity of the organ.

Finally This Week [as stunning as "Suddenly, Last Summer"], The NYT and WaPo apparently shared an "Epiphany". They've finally come to realize that Everyone Was Laughing At Them for their deliberate censorship of any and all news that wasn't palpably bad! As a result, they both carried their First, Tentative "Good News" stories this week. Hurrah for them and The People.

Harry Ried, David Obey, Dick Durban and Charlie Rangle, Nancy Pelosi [Dem Leadership of Congress] haven't caught up; neither has the disgraced {Abu Ghraib} General Sanchez, who's apparently fronting for them this week. They're still trying to sell their Defeatist "Bush Lied: This War Is Lost" construct to The American People and the World. They're actually still pushing Imminent Surrender via Timetables, and immediate Withdrawal of American Forces! They've punctuated this stupidity with deliberate refusal to properly FUND our Military in the Field without adding defeatist riders and compulsory withdrawal clauses [a/k/a "Veto Baiting"]. They are the moral, ethical, and incompetent equivalent of Kadima in Israel - ignorant, feckless, craven, and utterly corrupt!

Jennifer, there's no point sharing any more of this "depression" with you. Instead, may I wish you, Daniel, DPO Staff and all of our fellow contributors a Blessed and Wonderful Holiday Season, with good health, happiness, prosperity [and hopefully a bit of success] in the New Year.
