Defense of ZionReader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Oct 11, 2007 at 11:04 The problem the Jewish nation faces today, indeed has faced ever since Abram was renamed Abraham by the Almighty God who set out the Hebrew nation by Divine intervention, is that they were set out in the first place. In a world that has tendencies and proclivities to abhor anything that compels recognition of the Holy God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, being set out and dedicated as a people, they are bound by all that is Holy to suffer for that distinction. It makes them targets for all who hate their Sovereign Eternal, and brings to forefront why Israel is able to exist in the face of such adversity. Giving a label of Zion to the place most precious in the sight of Him who still calls Israel His own gives a sense of the poignancy in the middle of Israel's travail. It gives identity to the call to re-establish the Jewish in the way it was originally intended, as a nation devoted to her Eternal Sovereign. It is a name that It is interesting to note here that Hertzl's vision of a Zionist Israel was more of a secular one, hoping to make a distinction from a more religious vision of the nation. It seems that it is the underlying theme today for many Israelis' willing to separate the religious from the secular, allowing for a particular action to occur, dividing Jerusalem. It is a way to separate Jews from their Divinely imposed identity, and it is their main cause of grief. Similarly in America, this is a situation that is bound to get worse as questions of America's devotion and pledge to defend Israel by the President of the United States is contravened by trying to get some form of the deadly Road Map to peace in place. America's Christian heritage, closely linked to Israel's by the common bond in the Holy Scriptures, is under even more grueling attack (see the latest affront to Christianity in the American Legislatorial leading of removing God from a private sentiment expressed in presenting an American flag flown over the Capitol to a loved one). With such ambiguity, it will not be too much longer for the enemies of Almighty God to advance their cause from abroad against Israel and the Zionist mentality that struggles to survive, and it is going to be coming from America as well as any other place in the world. And if one does not think so, then read between the lines as the letter from the Islamic Muslim world to the Pope sends its message to collaborate or else face the consequences. Only the Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be ready to defend Israel when the time comes, and it is coming very, very soon.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
