ISRAEL IS A RECOGNIZED SOVEREIGN COUNTRY!!!Reader comment on item: Zionism's Bleak Present Submitted by jennifer solis (United States), Oct 12, 2007 at 00:22 The location of Israel offers strategic importance. In 1948 it was established as a national entity (by the U.N.), and therefore those borders established in 1948 should be enforced. The U.S. would be profited in helping to enforce those borders. Conditions after WWII were different than they are now; since 1948, Israel has been forced into war, compelled to fight or be driven into the sea. Many times Western governments have demanded that Israel conform to standards of behavior appropriate to that of a nation at peace. Undoubtedly, these same nations if faced with similar threats of terrorism and devastation would react not unlike Israel has done in the past. Palestinians are willing to "negotiate" so long as it furthers their agenda to eventually wipe out Israel. Israel does not, has NEVER "negotiated" with an eye toward wiping out the Middle East. It is so simple, it's ridiculous. That is, until fear comes into the picture. That is what I see all too much of. Fear. Fear of retaliation from Muslim countries. But does anyone think that Saudi Arabia really gives a chit about the Palestinians? That they would with-hold their oil? OVER A PALESTINIAN STATE?! Or that Jordan, with their 70% Palestinian population would not be able to contain an uprising? Some say our military is streched "thin". Well, our air-power isn't. Neither is Israel's. I say, let's hit them now. While we've got the muscle. Negotiating with terrorists is a farce. There is absolutely nothing to be gained by it. What does Israel bring to the table? What do Palestinians bring? What is the ideology behind both? One wants to be left alone; the other wants "a Palestinian State". Everyone knows what that means. No Israel. Jews have suffered throughout history. Palestinians, along with many other Muslims, deny the Holocaust ever happened. Possibly they think this is yet one more reason Jews should be denied Israel. The jeolousy and arrogance and greed of Palestinians is un-paralleled in modern times. ISRAEL IS ONE-QUARTER THE SIZE OF CALIFORNIA. Israel has never sought conquest of ANY of the surrounding countries. Basically, the only thing that works within the Islamic mind-set is the "strong horse". Translated, that means, respect and fear are synonymous. The historical violence that permeates Islam is proof. Right now, and every time "negotiations" are used, the Islamic mentality sees weakness. Israel will loose every time it pins it's hope on "negotiations". Negotiation between Israel and Islam will never bear anything but rot. -JS
