Israel shares the same conundrum as the rest of the west.

Israel suffers the same moral decay of all the western democracies. We hold our values as relativities stating that the other is as good as us irrespective of any evidence to the contrary. This is why Italy permits marriages to women as young as 12 in its ethnic minority Islamic north african community, there has even been a suggestion that female circumcision might be legalised in the future and let's not forget the scandalous plan to create muslim only beaches. These radical concessions to make our burkaed friends feel at home have the opposite effect on the Europeans who will one day wake up and wonder how their countries became part of the Islamic world. As Aesop would have said "Slowly steady wins the race".

A precondition of establishing an Islamic state on top of a liberal democracy is a absolute lack of self esteem in the preexisting nonmuslim population you are marginalising and eventually either assimilating or exterminating. Funnily enough liberals see things the other way around and as an example I can cite actor Brendan Cowell's recent musical which held that Australia's close relationship with the United States was the result of low self esteem (his musical was named "Self-esteem"). It is depressing to see that tiny Israel which burned so bright after the six day war in such a spiral of diminishing internal political will.

Israel's situation illustrates that even the threat of immediate harm cannot galvanise the public within liberal democracies and inspire them to defend themselves. Things are beginning to grow dark on both sides of the Atlantic. In spirit our countries are shrinking to the size of suburbs. Consider the Australian predicament. A Labour victory is practically inevitable in the next federal election with the concomitant result that the alliance with the US will be downgraded. It is not just in France that America is routinely denigraded and attacked in the media. Anti Americanism is as natural as breathing on our public broadcaster.

It is not so surprising then that the conservatives who have tied their political fortunes so closely to the US are being lambasted in the polls. Our withdrawal from Iraq will effectively render the ANZUS treaty with the US a meaningless bit of paper and manifestly diminish the prestige of the west. Now we will truly be unable to fight a war when Bin Laden and his cohorts will by comparison be able to deploy and destroy at will.

In around 50 or so years with Europe effectively Islamised, the US bound and gagged by a recalcitrant and hostile (increasingly Islamic) world government and the old alliance between Australia, the US and the UK broken – the position of Israel will be more or less untenable irrespective of whether the Jews themselves regard Zionism as a dirty word. Then the Israelis will either have to flee or be subject to a poorly publicised genocide (not that anyone will have the will or the conventional means to oppose the forces of Islamofascist darkness by this stage). The slaughter will outlast the existence of Israel however as the source of the violence in the ME is Islam and not Israel. One can already predict the left wing homilies that will outlast Israel's existence being used to justify every act of violence against Jews wherever they reside. "Oh when will we be free of the Zionist state's evil legacy!" They will cry. If I am still alive I will be doing what I always do...
