WMD LiesReader comment on item: [Iraqi] WMD Lies Submitted by David Pascoe (United States), Oct 14, 2003 at 00:33 Daniel -Your piece makes sense but for the question, TO WHAT END? What benefit does Sadam obtain by the ruse? True, his military is badly depleated from the war, but by coming clean he'd get his oil $$$ flowing quickly and could just as quickly build back up again, waltzing around the U.N. as easily as Hitler did the allies after WWI. The risk he faces with the allies coming down on him for a conventional weapons build up is probably about the same as for unconventional WMD - tho I'd wager the later would raise more eyebrows. Of course with Sadam anything is possible and the man's behavior is anything but rational. Perhaps arguing for your thesis is the question What about all those of his regime we've captured? Why havent we heard anything about what they are saying (It's doubtful that they're all silent). If they've told investigators the same thing you've suggested -- Then no wonder Bush has done such a terrible job making his case after the fact. As Arty Johnson would put it, Veddy Intellesting . . .
