matter of opinionReader comment on item: Abba Eban's Eloquence on Israel's 10th Anniversary Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), May 15, 2008 at 23:55 Dear Mr. Burke, We are all entitled to our opinions, and mine is still that Mr. Eban had a focus on what he believed to be the Israel of his dreams. I do not agree that his manner of answering Mike Wallace would equal that of Obama, Olmert, etc. in the cool and collected category. He was an intelligent man and knew what was needed---perhaps his dream was delayed in coming to fruition, and didn't include caving in to the unreasonable demands of Arabs, and the milk-toast attitude of subsequent leaders. I agree that more fire is needed in the furnace if all calls for the destruction of Israel by its enemies are to be halted immediately, and there is to be true and conclusive recognition of Israel throughout the entire world. As for Dr. Pipes conducting an interview with Abba Eban, it could only be an imagined exchange now, but it certainly would have been enlightening and perhaps even a little surprising.
