Comparing Abba Eban to ChurchillReader comment on item: Abba Eban's Eloquence on Israel's 10th Anniversary Submitted by Mladen Andrijasevic (Israel), May 18, 2008 at 02:09 I agree. Actually, Abba Eban's famous quip that the Palestinians "never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity ‘ is incorrect because the Palestinians do not consider a chance for peace an opportunity. Their definition of opportunity is completely different. To them any pretext to start a war against the Israelis is an opportunity not to be missed, Sharon's Temple Mont visit in September 2000 a case in point. But I believe that as long as the Muslims know that they have no chance whatsoever to destroy Israel they can keep postponing jihad for 10 years repetitively and indefinitely, so this kind of coexistence is possible. Incidentally I am just back from a trip to the North of Israel where Arab youths were jumping into the pool I was swimming in with cries of Alahu Akbar!, apparently expressing euphoria.
