An asideReader comment on item: Debating the Khalil Gibran International Academy Submitted by Devasahayam (United States), May 21, 2008 at 06:02 Nation-states were actually divinely ordained (see Bible, especially Gen 8-11); the "Tower of Babel" incident was due to organised disobedience (and an attempt to make a "permanent" proclamation thereof) of post-flood humans against God--His response was to confuse the languages, knocking the organisational unity out of whack. Super-states (as suggested by the term "global citizens") on the other hand are generally (one exception, see below***) abominations to Him; it may be noted that the Antichrist (or "Beast") and False Prophet will be setting the last super-state (which will be even more of an abomination than all before it) seven years before Jesus' return. This super-state will be destroyed, and the power behind it (Old Nick) will be bound for a time (1,000 years according to premillenialists and postmillenialists; amillenialists do not agree on a concrete figure), in preparation for final conflict--this is also to take away the "environmental factors" excuse, as Old Nick will NOT be able to deceive anyone. ***Admittedly, Jesus will set up a super-state (though this will be under actual Divine Authority, not pretence thereof) for the time until final confrontation with Old Nick.
