Where did they hold these "Proximity Talks"?...On the banks of the Jordan River.

It would be PM Netanyahu writing his commitment on the sands of the Jordan River, while Abbas preferred to write it on the flowing waters of the Jordan.

Mitchell would have preferred Israel's PM to carve the commitment on the rock, so that even with the river waters with Abbas' commitment dashed against the rocks, the Israeli commitment would still remain intact.
