Dr. Pipe's Peace PlanReader comment on item: Thoughts on the Start of Israeli-Palestinian "Proximity Talks" Submitted by Mark D. (United States), May 12, 2010 at 15:13 Years ago, when the Israelis were taking on terrorists after terrorists who were sending rockets to its towns, Olmert, then the prime minister, regrettably, did not go all the way. They are terrorists for god's sakes. Israel could have done us, the US, a favor too by eliminating yet another terrorist organization who could plan terrorist attacks at the homeland. Why did they back down? Was it because they couldn't do it?; They couldn't defeat the enemy?; They are given to appeasement? Was it because it was put in check by Europe or other Western countries and the US, who adamantly opposed further action, saying enough is enough and that the response, broadly accepted, was disproportionate to what Hezbollah had done? If Israel cannot or refuse to defeat Hezbollah to the fullest extent, then they would have to tough it out - from time to time they would get terrorist attacks, people dying, distressing as that may be. Or if attacked again, lie a meaningful opportunity that has been – maybe – a long time coming and might do wonders. Namely, the essential components of Dr. Pipe's peace plan – born of bitter experience and is a viable option that may be the best course of action. Go ahead and try it. Will you? Can you?
