But what's in it for themReader comment on item: The Left's New Enemy: "Empire" Submitted by Mitch Cappelmann (United States), Jun 22, 2010 at 16:46 I read and very much enjoyed the article. It is very clear from this article and others what the (far) left is against and what they want to accomplish. But I cannot for the life of me understand their motive. The foot soldiers in this struggle either don't understand what always comes next when such a fundamental transformation is accomplished i.e. the secret police (e.g. KGB, Gestapo, etc.) , the rapid erosion of basic human rights, and the inevitable destruction of the economy's wealth creating engine and concommitant decline in living standards, or they do, but imagine that for their help bringing such transformation about, they will be considered part of the enligtened elite and will be immune to these things. I do not believe that people, even dedicated progressives do things for totally altruistic reasons. Al Gore and George Soros have made hundreds of millions of dollars. Jeremiah Wright lives in a mansion. All of Barack Obama's cronies are wealthy or soon will be. So maybe someone can tell me what' the ordinary foot soldiers who stand to lose so much think is in it for them.
