Have we forgotten the Right Wing's alliance with Islamists ?

I must admit I have many problems with this review by Dr. Pipes. It would take too long to explain everything in detail but one point ... that I'd rather focus on it only . Dr. Pipes writes referring to an earlier article of his :

" To fight Empire's superior resources, the Left needs to ally with anyone else opposing it – notably Islamists. Islamist goals contradict the Left's, but no matter; so long as Islamists help fight Empire, they have a valued place in the coalition."

To be sure , the left- Islamist alliance is evident and nobody can deny it . But I wonder what consequences it has had so far or can have in comparison to the disastrous and quite real consequences of the alliance between the ruling American right wing and Islam ? The leftists would love to use Islam to promote their objectives . That's true . But it is exactly what the right wing or "Empire" has been doing on a much larger and direr scale by supporting , promoting , arming and strengthening Islamists for many decades and with amazing consistency ! So all the argument is based on double standards and looks like accusing the adversary of wishing to commit the sins I have repeatedly and publicly committed .

Perhaps there are still people who remember Reagan's eulogies of "Afghanistan freedom fighters" or Brzezinski's calls on the Moslems to start a jihad to promote his anti-left agenda ? Who armed , trained an financed the worst Moslem fanatics and funademntalists unless the representative of the Right like the two above mentioned gentlemen ? It is they that made these illiterate tribal savages a formidable fighting force using the latest military technologies . It is the Right with its alleged Christian mission - not the Leftists - that created two jihadist Moslem states in the heart of Europe - in Bosnia and Kosovo at the expense of the Christians there , and who has been deeply involved in supporting and doing business with such medieval Islamist regimes as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan . So with all respect for Dr. Pipes how can I believe that a putative and temporary alliance between the Left and Islam can bring more disastrous results than what the real and long-standing alliance between the Right with Islam ?
