Ystäväni Ugri !

You keep puzzling me which I greatly enjoy , I must admit . Now you write :

> Funny that you brought up Gorbachev. What do you know about his leftism - today [...]Now that he's approaching 80 he quite well could be occupied with keeping in good health, thinking about the salvation of his soul. ? <

I remember him as Secretary General of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and head of the Soviet State . Now if you imply that this suggests anything else than being a communist , i.e. being leftist , then it is even more puzzling to me than anything you have brought forth so far . As far as I know he has never left the CPSU or torn his Party booklet as Yeltsin did . His genuine communism has never evoked my doubts .

I don't hear about his peregrinations in the so called "Holy Land" or in churches as Yeltsin did before his infamous drunken death . He has always been a sober man seeing the world without religious illusions . A large number of Russians are atheists and he is one of them .

In point of fact Gorbachov is the only politician I have ever respected and admired . It is during his era of glasnost &perestroyka that I only experienced something worth the name of "freedom" . I will always be grateful to this great communist for what he did until my death .
