The Dark CoreReader comment on item: Has Islam been Hijacked by Radicals? Submitted by Erich W (United States), Dec 27, 2010 at 16:17 Well, Lactantius, you got to the heart of the problem, which in this case, makes the solution really hard...or really easy. "Hard", in that to challenge a religious people to throw their own prophet over-board, is pretty much a non-starter. Normally, only a few would be likely to convert out of such an all-captivating religion as Islam (I wish it were not so). "Easy" in that Islamic people are good neighbors when they take it easy, when they are relaxed about "sunna"; when they forget this dark, violent and demanding side of their prophet. Thankfully, this "ease" is as common as the Second Law of Thermodynamics. To encourage it is a good deed. On the other hand, I suppose Salafism, the Iranian Revolution, and a number of other movements are precisely the reawakening of this dark core... Muslim leadership must already be observing that this reawakening is causing more conversion away from Islam to Christ than they have ever experienced before. The movements of greatest significance are caused by "human action, not human design". Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
