thanks for pointing out my errorReader comment on item: Has Islam been Hijacked by Radicals? Submitted by Lactantius Jr (United Kingdom), Jan 5, 2011 at 11:06 To Jaladhi Thank you so much for pointing out my error, I did indeed get it wrong, seriously wrong, in saying Bible rather than Qur'an in the following passage, >"The Satanic verses incident demonstrates that at one time, Muhammad spoke the devil's words claiming they were a revelation from "Allah," and neither Muhammad nor anyone hearing him recite the devil's words could detect any difference between them and "Allah's," words. This incident, recorded by Islam's earliest scholars, inescapably prompts the question potentially very destructive to Islam, that being, how many more of Satan's lying words remain in the Bible, bringing confusion and eternal condemnation to over a billion Muslims?"< Jesus Who is God the Son says of Himself " I am.......the truth............" John 14:6 saying of the words recorded in the Bible, "Your word is the truth. So let this truth make them completely yours." John 17:17 Here we have the testimony of Jesus, the embodiment of truth, saying that all God's words recorded in the Bible are true, all the commands and promises of God, His revelation of His own character and that of the lostness of unregenerate men and women, His account of the identity of His Son and His life-saving mission, His account of the life, death by crucifixion and glorious resurrection to eternal life of His beloved Son, His plain, plain Words of salvation in no other Name than that of Jesus, all of which represent things as they are, and the God with Whom we have to deal, all of which are fitted to make Jesus' followers rejoice, and praise God, Jesus saying that "Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away." Mark 13:31 Compare and contrast the foregoing with the Qur'anic Allah who changes his mind and his "revelations" to Muhammad, I refer of course to the Islamic doctrine of abrogation, where later Qur'anic "revelations" cancel, annul, nullify or overturn earlier "revelations," and according to some Muslim commentators, more than 260 Qur'anic verses have been abrogated. Here is what the Qur'an says at Surah 2:106 "Whatever a Verse (revelation) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or similar to it. Know you not that Allah is able to do all things?" Saying at Surah 85:21-22 "Nay! this is a glorious Qur'an , (inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al- Mahfuz (The Preserved Tablet)! and here in these ayat are references to the pre-existent Qur'an with Allah before the creation of the world, "That (this) is indeed an honourable recital (the Noble Qur'an). In a Book well-guarded (with Allah in the heaven i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). Which (that Book with Allah) none can touch but the purified (i.e. the angels). A Revelation (this Qur'an) from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)." Surah 56:77-80 "We verily, have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). And Verily, it (this Qur'an) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom." Surah 46:3-4 Will any Muslims reading this, please explain to me how they can trust such a capricious entity as Allah, who can't make his mind up, with the "glorious Qur'an" in heaven, "the preserved tablet," containing both the abrogated and abrogating ayat? Much better to look to and trust a different God, the One true God of the Bible, the God in Whom there is "no shadow of turning," "Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, Who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow." James 1:17 the God of Whom the prophet Isaiah has this to say, "Flowers and grass fade away, but what our God has said will never change." Isaiah 40:8 With kind regards and best wishes Lactantius Jr Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
