Makr Deception

I have a copy of the Arabic English Quran published by the government in Saudi Arabia. It is THE translation deceminated throughout the world to English speakers.

In the official Saudi version, the English translation of makr and makra are "plan". I am a linguist so I looked up the word in Arabic in three well respected scholarly dictionaries of Arabic. The meaning of makr is cunning, guile, deceipt, craftiness, slyness, wiliness. The verb makr is to deceive, dupe, cheat, delude, double-cross. Makra is a noun meaning scheme, ruse, artifice, stratagem, trick, dodge. The makkar, the person doing this - the doer or agent of action, is a trickster, deceiver, a sly/crafty person, the swindler and the IMPOSTOR.

The translation is a deception in itself for those without linguistic knowledge of Arabic. Many native Arab speakers are also decieved of you consider the high levels of illiteracy and semi-literacy in the Arab world today. Egypt alone has millions. For the more educate the Quran is written in a classical language which varies enough from Modern Standard Arabic that even educated people would. It know many terms in it. However, any educated, native speaker or Arabic WOULD know that makkar is a deceiver, and all his actions deceptive.

That they turn a blind eye to what is plainly written in their own revered text goes to prove the adage that the greatest most effective deceptions are hidden in plain site. In fact, great liars often give a tell in one way or another, or straight out tell you they are liars, not to be trusted. This allows them to shift the blame on the deceived in a sort of plausible denial. "I TOLD you, and you still believed (in) me."

I was also just reading a website about showing how all the dimensions and theories of physics are told of in the Quran. Muslim apologists and lay followers point to these as miraculous proof of Mohammed's writings and the divinity of Allah. Now, angels are beings with vast knowledge beyond that of humans. The fallen angles and Satan, the greatest of them all has immense knowledge and power that to a mere human appears god-like. The knowledge of these beings can seem miraculous to the ignorant.

Moreover, the psychology and tactics of artful liars and deceivers is to obfuscate their deception with truths. They mingle in, and they present truths along with their lies to convince others. Most people take the portions of truth presented to them as confirmation that the entirety is sound. THAT's the art of the Great Deceiver!
