The Kurds and the Armenian GenocideReader comment on item: Lebanon, Stuck between Israel and Syria Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jul 22, 2011 at 07:04 Minhaj wrote During the Armenian Genocide, the Kurds were just another element within the Ottoman Empires army which consisted of Turks, Kurds, Arabs, among others and the Kurds within the Ottoman Military were just soldiers and acting as soldiers and not as Kurds and just like any soldiers in any military of the world, those soldiers were carrying out orders, I'm not a lawyer but what I understand that in international law claiming that some one killed innocent civilians because he was only "carrying out orders" is not an accpeted defense albeit it being wrong.; Then why did the Kurds that participated in this atrocity not say we cannot brutalize and kill these innocent people If the Kurds are to be blamed then the Arabs and other ethnic groups should equally be blamed. Sure. But I have not seen any evidence that Syrians or Lebanese or Iraqis or Palestinians and Jews or Egyptians (and these were the major destinations of the surviving victims of the genocide) killed or brutalized an Armenian as a matter of fact they were welcomed and you still have Armenians in Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The genocide was culminated and ordered by the Sultans of Ottoman and its generals and they were all Turks, and that is where the fault should lie on. I agree with you Individual Kurds, by thousands, saved hundreds of thousands of Armenians by protecting and hiding them in their houses and many times lying to the Turks that they were Muslims; and this is documented by the Armenians themselves. I'm sure there were some decent Turks and Kurds that protected those victims of this Genocide and Indeed I understand that many Kurdish organizations recognized the Armenian Genocide and apologized to the Armenian people for the participation of many Kurds in this tragedy However, what Kurds back then did not realize is that the Kurds will be next on the list of the Turkish barbarians
