Israel and Syria

I think that, if given a choice, the majority of the Lebanese population would choose to align themselves with Israel over Syria. Wasn't it just a few short years ago that Syria finally withdrew their forces from Lebanon in a stranglehold over the tiny nation? And isn't Hezballah aligned with Syria and is slowly taking over the govt in Lebanon ? Unfortunately, that process precludes the correct decision and will push them closer and closer to Syria and Iran.
