Time to rejoice or repent?Reader comment on item: Libyan Blues Submitted by Ghulam Muhammed, Mumbai (India), Aug 22, 2011 at 20:24 Just as you have a right to party and rejoice on the imminent eclipse of Qaddafi from Libya at least, I too feel a bit of rejoicing on your and Western world's confusion as to who will come to power now in Libya. The surprises that West gets shows how ill-thought out their plans are and how they are moved by short-sighted events or windows of opportunities opening up or dire need of the hour. West fought Soviet Russia in Afghanistan and ended up with Taliban. In Iran, even though West did not help to overthrow Shah, it did not life a finger to save an old ally. In fact, made his life miserable by not giving him asylum. In Egypt, it has dealt similarly with Mubarak, who had betray his people but was loyal to US and Israel for 3 decades. The arrogance of power that shows up in US president demanding foreign head of state or government to step down, does not translate in any well-thought policy, at least to the East. For us, US is a bumbling giant, hardly aware of its destructive powers that can turn on itself. May be after, Turkey US is opening up to 'moderate' and manageable Islamists. However, that does not take out the rejoicing that the East feels on US, American Jewish think tanks and Israel getting into such morasse that directly muddies West's rapacious agenda on defenceless Arab and Muslim countries.
