Cheap propagandaReader comment on item: Newt Gingrich and the "Invented" Palestinian People Submitted by Judith (United States), Dec 15, 2011 at 14:33 Moses on Mount Nebo was not looking at Palestine but at what became Judah and Sumaria. When Joshua conquired Jericho the inhabitants were not Arab but other pagan peoples. There were no Palestinians to welcome or feed Jews then. Once again, Dean, you mix up Palestinians and Philistines. They are not the same people! They are not from the same region of the world. The Arabs were desert dwellers who established Arabia, which later became Saudi Arabia when King Saud changed the name to reflect his prowess. Arabs began to come into the Ottoman Turkish Empire because of their affiliation with Islam and when Mohammed conquired lands in the Middle East he never changed the Roman name of Palestine, nor did the Seljerk Turks, nor the Ottoman Turks, nor did the Crusaders, nor did the British after the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I. It's just a Roman name that has stuck througout the ages and that was adopted by certain groups of Arabs beginning in the early part of the 20th Century, around 1920, but later became more popular in around 1967 after the six-day war when five Arab nations invaded the newly established State of Israel, which was just a re-establishment of a Jewish homeland that had existed long before Palestine. The reason for the "Palestinian identity" was to give the Arabs a sense of belonging to the land as if they had always been there which they had not. Joan Peters established the truth of the fabrication which she published in her book "From Time Immemorial" published in 1983. Gamal Abdul Nasser, the Eqyptian leader during the 1960's encouraged the Arab nations to begin the propaganda of calling the Arabs who were from many tribes and many other lands, predominately Jordan, Eqypt and Syria but currently living in Palestine, Palestinians.Since Palestine has never been an official country, just a region of one conquering empire after another, Palestinian is not a nationality but a concept of assuming sovereignty over certain real estate in the name of Islam. Towns like Jericho, Nazareth, and Bethlehem were Jewish towns long before they came under Arab control. Even the name of the towns are not Arabic. Take Bethlehem for example. In Hebrew it means "house of bread". It means nothing in Arabic. The Muslim Arabs have run out most of the Christian Arabs by now.
