If Not America - Who?Reader comment on item: Newt Gingrich and the "Invented" Palestinian People Submitted by M. Tovey (United States), Dec 20, 2011 at 11:54 Strange to think that someone from around the world has some idea of how American politics work. But there is truth that even in America, who will win is still a mystery until the results are announced. Ask Al Gore how that worked for him. But here is something that occurs to me for someone living in India: why should you care, if even you do at all? It is a rhetorical question. India's part in the world economy has depended upon America, if even for a small sector of its own economy. India should care who the American president is now-how does the current American Chief Executive work out for you-working pretty well, is it not? You, like so many others, even in the American Republican think tanks, look at the Former Speaker with jaded eyes-and for good reason. He knows where the skeletons are. But to call him a nutcase is revealing something that you should probably rethink. While he may have ideas that are out of this realm and of your contemporary thinking, that does not necessarily means he's wrong. Now, speaking of jaded thinking, and I will admit the bias of mine in this as you must yours, the perceptions of how the world's problems are manifesting themselves cannot be attributed to the American political/military presence alone. Neither does the tenuous alliance of America and Israel demand a world solution that would decimate those countries from the world scene without cost. When we see countries practice the military stances that fomented the devastation of World War Two, scenes like the militaries of nations in the Islamic revolution mimicking the former Soviet Union and the Nationalist Socialist Third Reich in parade demonstrations of similar cadenced marches to show strength, what conclusions are we to draw? And when it becomes evident that they will have their moment in the blinding flash of the sun, should we expect that rule under those types of regimes will be any different that the ones they mimic? Is that what type of paradise you would have us dream about? Ummm, ahhhh, no thank you – I would rather let someone like the Former Speaker stand and fight for what he believes in terms of the freedoms and liberties still resident here in America. Would I call America paradise? Not in two hundred years; not in two thousand years; yet I was raised in not imposing my will for the simple cause that I would not want someone to impose their will upon me. America allows me the ability to live in freedom and worship the LORD as I am led by Yeshua HaMashiach, and to share that freedom. Does America still follow the precepts of the founding agents of the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution? To a limited sense; and where it does not is where the Former Speaker and I agree. But even if the United States were operating constitutionally, the world would still operate against the type of democracy that America was founded under due to its being Biblically based. Would someone like the Former Speaker impose American style democracy upon other places around the world? As can be seen, it's not likely to work. Iraq is the better modern example of that. The current American administration could not wait to implement a campaign promise in collusion with the Iraqi leadership to evict the American forces to distance ourselves from that experience. As for this reader, it was not too soon. Further, America should leave Afghanistan as well and leave Karzai and his government to work things out for their own good, if they can find it. But recognizing that having American troops to insure the Afghan government is no guarantee of its success does not mean we are going to be done with Afghanistan, especially when considering that Pakistan is the other part of the equation of instability looming under the specter of Iran. All of these things are facing the current administration now and cannot be put off waiting for the American vote next year. So right now, you should be worried, not about who is going to be the next president of the United States of America, but about who is going to try to take out America all together. For when that happens, America will not be there to help anyone-but I suppose, isn't that what you want? I think it is.
