What should Newt Gingrich do (or the next US president)

Dear Dr Pipes:

Comments by your responders like Debanjan Banerjee are a joy to read because they are so wrong and so easy to refute. Debanjan indirectly suggests that it is wrong for the US government to support Israel and cut aid to the UN. If US truly wants to live with the principles on which it was founded, it will be prudent for it to increase its support for Israel and reduce its aid to the UN. It has been repeated millions of times that among the middle eastern countries Israel is the only free and civilized country (free: freedom of thought and religion, civilized: the state constitutionally protects the rights of foreigners and minorities). Since the US values freedom it should support no country but Israel in the ME.

Similarly, UN is pretty much a meaningless organization. Majority of its members countries fail to meet the 'free and civilized' criterion stated above. On top of that many UN members are ruled by corrupt governments that are barely interested in the welfare of their citizens.
