Turkey and Friends

Leaving out Rick Perry's amateurish description of a very real and dangerous global issue (and hence the seriousness of it was diminished when the distraction of his choice of words outshined the issue); Turkey is obviously a growing problem in their increasingly Islamist proponence and anti-Western moves. That being said, would you have the situation deteriorate further by pushing Turkey into the arms of Iran (outwardly)? What of the ramifications then?
