Will the US ever learn?Reader comment on item: Embassy Baghdad in Decline Submitted by Rebecca Moulds (United States), Feb 8, 2012 at 14:33 It boggles the mind how many times the US has made this mistake---why we must interfere in other countries has long been a bone of contention within the US and abroad. While our own people are suffering unemployment and poverty, exorbitant health care insurance, and other such things, we are spending billions of dollars on our military installations and embassies in countries where we are not only disliked, but unwanted in the first place. Having lived overseas for twenty-six years, and in two Muslim countries, I can concur with Dr. Pipes when he states . . . "that wherever the State Department builds its largest embassy, trouble surely follows". Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
