What you write makes complete sense.

The West should cease from 'knowing better' for everyone else (a mindset exploited by those who do not wish the world well) and with honesty and some decency look after its own interests. To think things through.

Which is more than has happened regarding Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon.

Not that a good job could not have been done in those places, but that it is made impossible by hostile interests within the structure of the West.
