Sunni vs Shia ear for the agesReader comment on item: Stay out of the Syrian Morass Submitted by Stas (Ukraine), Feb 28, 2014 at 00:31 There is no good solution to the Syrian conflict and any eventual victor will laud their victory and its regional ramifications. They have turned it into a Sunni-Shia battlefield upon which the pride is now the essential element. Neither can be seen as the losers. Iran needs the strategic territorial control and everything falls apart from their gains in Lebanon and Iraq if the Sunnis prevail. If the Sunni rebels win, they will not stop there and mow down Shia in new jihad hot spots for the foreseeable future. There is no good outcome for either side if they lose and this war will only escalate beyond Syria and perhaps spill into a real war between Iran and the Gulf States. As it should be. Then Iran can use up all their missiles locally instead of threatening Israel. One day Obama will be remembered as a genius...
