US intervention in foreign atrocitiesReader comment on item: Stay out of the Syrian Morass Submitted by steveN (United States), Jun 16, 2012 at 20:00 It is a difficult moral and ethical decision to stay out of another country's internal conflicts, especially when the gory details are broadcast on the news and in the media. If life were more simple, it would be a simple matter to go in and rescue innocent people from harm and torture. But the US must first concern herself with the interests of American citizens and whether it is beneficial or harmful. Also, why is no one doing anything about the masses being killed in Darfur/Sudan, Chad, Uganda, Nigeria, Cote D'Ivoire, Yemen, Ethiopia etc. etc. No one saved the Rwandans, so what are the criteria by which we determine who gets to be saved and play God? Is it only those we see on TV who merit our concern? Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
