Syria or another RwandaReader comment on item: Stay out of the Syrian Morass Submitted by Farhad Lahafdoozi (United States), Jun 14, 2012 at 22:18 Whatever happens in Syria since last year could reflect a few realities: 1. Syria, since 60's, was one of the middle eastern systems which bugged USA and Israel a lot by supporting terrorism, interfering in Lebanon, and following Soviets. Today, international community specially USA is taking its time in solving the issue, it could be military intervention. 2. Since not much tolerance is seen among Middle eastern ethnics and nations, the scale of violence in Syria is getting the same as Rwanda's. Much of this intolerance is coming mainly from Islam. 3. Toppling Bashar Assad from power, can cause a big anger for Iran, Russia and China. Or, it can bring a more democratic system for Syrians , but does it really worth? One of the biggest human tragedies happened so far. a big mess by vicious Bashar's regime. In 80's they sentenced people 28 years in jail just because of crossing the border, now imagine if people rebel against them. The answer would be an Iron Fist from the regime without getting any help from outside. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
