So well stated, you highlight the duplicity of the west

It is very sad that the western powers are incapable of comprehending the culture and thought processes of the Middle East. Western 'progressives' are so arrogant and egocentric that they dare to assume that everyone thinks like them and holds the same values and beliefs. That is the core problem with all political negotiations.

Because of their lack of understanding, they are supporting the very conditions that perpetuate persecution and danger to the minorities that they would swear they would protect. And the worst part is, these naive foolish westerners don't even understand that they are causing much more harm than good.
