Chuck Hagel @ Defense? Another Obama ZombieReader comment on item: Chuck Hagel at Defense? Submitted by Keith Barger (United States), Jan 29, 2013 at 12:20 I think Obama chose Hagel for several reasons; a) Hagel's views on foreign policy are to the left of Obama, b) Obama wants to control foreign policy very closely & Hagel is a 'yes man'. Hagels' views closely coincide with Kerry's & Biden's. You can call them "The Three Amigos" They will carry out Obama's foreign policy. What I find scary is that there will be no opposing nor differing viewpoints. Kerry has no vision on Afghanistan nor Syria (since we refuse to arm the non-islamist opposition, we will ensure the hard line islamists will take over if Assad falls).Hagel is still affected by his service in Vietnam (which was over 40 years ago). His pro-Iranian policy is also troublesome. If it were up to me, I would much prefer, say Joe Lieberman to be Secretary of State.
