Have we really learned anything new?Reader comment on item: Education by Murder in Boston Submitted by Rebecca Ellen Moulds (United States), Apr 24, 2013 at 11:01 If these surveys are accurate, they show a contrariness to what is deemed by non-Europeans as European complancency and acceptance of Islam. Has radical Islam become too great to be held at bay? Britain is rife with Shari'a courts. The Netherlands seems taken over by Muslim immigrants. Finland is dealing with thousands of Somali Muslim refugees pouring in and taking advantage of the social services when indigenous Finns, especially the elderly, cannot afford the luxuries that are piled into the shopping carts of the Somalis in the Helsinki supermarkets. Italy and Spain have growing Muslim populations. If more Muslims assimilated and had a "live and let live" attitude, then things would be so different, but there are radicals among them, pushing their agendas as more and more emigrate. If opinion in Europe is truly hardening against radical Islarm, then it is hardening as a silent majority in a highly ineffectual way. If radical Islam's dream is to create a world-wide caliphate, then it's doing very well in Europe. Unless Muslims are treated like everyone else and not given a longer leash, then woe to the world. Let us hope that this combination of complacency and politically correct thinking doesn't become the trend in the US. Nero fiddled while Rome burned.
