Islamism is a threat to our way of life?Reader comment on item: Education by Murder in Boston Submitted by Steve Klein (United States), Apr 25, 2013 at 13:30 I wonder if we can agree, Dr. Pipes, what you and others call "Islamism" is indeed authoritative Islam; the Islam of the prophet Muhammad. Maybe we can make a distinction between devout Muslims who engage in violent jihad against non-believers and not-so-devout (even secular) Muslims who do not actively wage violent jihad against unbelievers. Is it possible (even likely) the vast majority of not-so-devout Muslims sympathize with and / or support devout Muslims worldwide with very few exceptions, because they know devout Muslims are emulating the prophet who is Islam's perfect example? It was none other than Turkey's prime minister Erdogan who said, "These descriptions are very ugly, it is offensive and an insult to our religion. There is no moderate or immoderate Islam (e.g., "Islamism"). Islam is Islam and that's it."
