The Losing Side of HistoryReader comment on item: Yes, Support the Syrian Rebels Submitted by Khachkarian (United States), Dec 19, 2013 at 09:02 For many years, I consorted with a British academic who had a keen eye for the politics of other countries, especially their respective human rights and democracy dynamics. He believed that, in the post-Cold War era famously (or infamously) dubbed "The End of History," the only way to remain "human" was to consistently support the losing side in any political struggle. I lost touch with him years ago, but I assume he is still striving to preserve and protect his own humanity. He would therefore presumably have tilted toward the militant Islamist rebels in Syria, away from his previous position of supporting Assad, as Prof. Pipes has done herein.
