Moderate Islam As The SolutionReader comment on item: My Views of Islam and Islamism Submitted by Mark D (United States), Jan 7, 2014 at 21:10 Hi Dr. Pipes, >>>>Defeat radical Islam, just as we defeated fascism and communism.<<< A big thanks again for the reply. You do not mean "just how we defeated fascism and communism" with a how?In other words, not "just as we defeated" but 'just how we defeated" Don't you have articles on the how stuff? How moderate Islam can defeat Islamism? Or maybe you mean that currently there is moderate Islam in the Middle East, but its degree is still far from where it needs to be so then what needs to happen to bring it to the forefront so much so we defeat radical Islam on the eventual future? Then there is the question of what should the degree of the outcome of victory be to the point that there would be much to celebrate. Radical Islam is all over the world, Australia and Philippines and Africa and so on and I do not think it can be completely obliterated. I think that will always exist and that all we can do it restrain it and come to terms with it, just as like how we in the modern society has been restraining the wretched behavior and influence of Christianity, i.e. often times fighting for separation of church and state whenever there is an attempt to infringe religion to our law and lives (there are several cases of such things getting taken even all the way to the Supreme Court, such as mandatory prayer in schools, same sex marriages, abortion, employment termination based on religious grounds, discrimination against non Christians, employment based on religion, equality under the law, political decisions based on religion such as refusal of stem cell developments during the Bush years, religious figures in government buildings, etc. etc.) Can we craft a plan, cite examples? How do we accelerate the process? What are the bottlenecks? What are the difficult questions? What are the formidable array of issues? What should be the sweeping change? What are the enormous challenges we face? These questions I ask in the context of Moderate Islam – how Moderate Islam, which you say is the solution, can defeat radical Islam. I thank you again in no small measure, and for your passion, commitment, and dedication to DanielPipes.com. Mark D
