The Maronites and the CoptsReader comment on item: Muslims Turn away from Islamism Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Jul 17, 2014 at 11:41 Dr. Pipes you wrote Strangely, the historically stalwart Maronites have become dhimmis The shrewd Maronites realize that they have a monopoly on business and money in Lebanon and if they appease Muslims this would mean more business and more money in their pockets. And the end result is Beirut is booming and the Arabs from SA and points beyond are spending their summer enjoying great food and beaches and climate and beautiful women and on top of the list lots of Youhanna Mashi (Johnnie Walker Scotch) it cannot get any better while the historically dhimmi Copts have become stalwarts. As for the Copts they have nothing to lose plus they are getting much needed support from liberal and secular Muslims that do not tolerate any longer the treatment of the Copts in Egypt by the likes of the MB and the Salafists. Also the Coptic diaspora is very vocal Last the Copts realize that they are on their own and that expecting support and help from the West and the US will never happen
