"....For the readers the word نصارى or Nasara is read in the Qur'an as Christians but the etymology of the word is not known and even al-Tabari offers different meanings in his exegesis of Q2:62 where he says that it could have something to do with victory (al-Nusra) or it has something to do with the name of the hometown of the Quranic Jesus..."

Wouldn't it be likely that it simply relates to Nazareth (النَّاصِرَة‎) - which according to the Bible is where Jesus had his home base?
