Reader comment on item: Why Politicians Pretend Islam Has No Role in ISIS

The West's goal is eliminating the Islamist extremists.
In doing so we don't want to give our enemies the verbal ammunition they need to portray our actions as a holy war against 1.5 billion Muslims.
During the Cold War it was routinely stressed that our fight was with "Godless Communism" and not with the Russian people.
And there are a heck of a lot more Muslims than there were Russians.
