Is "Political Silence" being Bought?

Dr. Pipes,

I am quite concerned by the fact that most of our U.S. political leaders are afraid to admit that the fundamental ideology of Islam actually does play a role in the rise of jihadist terrorism throughout the world. Why the silence and fear to speak out? On the other hand, it would be quite interesting if each politician would divulge whether he/she has ever received contributions from any Islamic political action group and/or from any Muslim government. Perhaps that would point to a reason behind the political silence for not wanting to publicly call jihadist terror "Islamic". The Qur'an and Ahadith (sayings of Muhammad) are very specific in giving the "marching orders" for Musims to fight and strike terror against non-Muslims. While the vast majority of Muslims may not be engaged in hostile acts, it is the jihadist groups that are the "active armies" and who are following Muhammad's teachings and end-game goal to attain world dominance. Here are just two examples:

"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts) of the enemies of Allah and your enemies...(Qur'an 008.060)

"The prophet (peace be upon him) said: " I am commanded to fight with men until they testify that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is his servant and his apostle, face our qiblah (direction of prayer), eat what we slaughter, and pray like us..." (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 14, No. 2635)
