time to change the recordReader comment on item: Why Politicians Pretend Islam Has No Role in ISIS Submitted by Charles Martel (United States), Mar 22, 2015 at 14:38 Actually, what needs to happen is a dramatic change in the narrative. Right now, the Islamists have the information space almost entirely to themselves. "Inspire" magazine, anyone? Look in the dictionary under the phrase "vile, obscene cynicism" and you'll see a photo of Inspire magazine. But where are all the voices of passion and fire extolling the virtues of Western civilized society? The United States represents the most noble experiment in the history of humanity. Full stop. While Barrack Hussein tells us not to get on our high horse (with the blood from innocent victims in Paris still dripping from the walls), there seems to be a dearth of forcefully broadcast counter messages. Oh sure, for a few days after the attack there were speeches and promises and lots of righteous indignation. And then...Crickets. So I'll ask again. Where are the DAILY voices yelling from the "virtual" rooftops about how vastly superior the ideals of Jeffersonian pluralism are to the psychotic barbarism of basic Islam? Let's not delude ourselves by the way in calling this ethos fundamental Islam or Islamism. It's Islam 101. It is nothing more nor less than 'basic Islam'. Take five or ten minutes to read Inspire magazine and you'll see that the rag is absolutely littered with verbatim quotes from the canonical texts of the Qur'an, Surat & Hadith. These people know who they are. They know what they believe in. So who are we? And what "inspires" passion in us? Come on folks. Freedom is NOT free. We have to earn it. Each of us. All of us. Every single day. I know what I believe in. Passionately. I know what I'm teaching my kids. I know how fiercely I'll fight to preserve my precious freedoms. How about you?
