Islam politicians and academia and Islam and من اين لك هذا ya Ustaz CollaReader comment on item: Why Politicians Pretend Islam Has No Role in ISIS Submitted by dhimmi no more (United States), Mar 10, 2015 at 09:12 Dr. Pipes It is not just politicians that keep telling us "ISIS is not the real Islam" but it is also in academia and here is a Professor of Arabic literature his name is Elliott Colla who just wrote an article "On the iconoclasm of ISIS" among his claims is that destruction of statues and paintings is not part of Islam and that what Da'ish is doing in Iraq is contrary to Islam http://www.elliottcolla.com/blog/ And yes Sheikh el-Azhar in the past few days issued a fatwa and he stated that what Da'ish did in Iraq to the antiquities is contrary to islamic teachings http://www.tnnegypt.com/al-azhar-releases-fatwa-condemning-the-destruction-of-artefacts/#.VPxsdnCkaCE.twitter Sheikh al-Azhar quotes one single verse in the Qur'an as his evidence and it is Surat al-Fajr 7-9 but if you read it and then read al-Tabari you realize that he had no idea what this verse really means and it has nothing to do with statues or painitings And here is a Da'ish video about their reasons supported by quotes from the Qur'an that incite Muslims to destoy idols https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uskt1duKJXM And for Arabic speaking readers these are quotes from the Qur'an that incite Muslims to destroy idols and indeed a cursory examination of the Qur'an the reader will come across the following verses that incite such destruction 1. Surat al-Anbia' 52-54 2, Surat al-Anbia' 25 3. Surat Ibrahim 35 4. Surat al-Anbia' 58 5. Surat al-Safat 91-95 You will also find plenty of examples in the tradition where Muhammad and al-Khlafa' al-Rashiduun were involved in the destruction of "idols" and we have the story of Muhammad and the destruction of the idols in al-Ka3ba There is a section in Sahih Muslim about: Tams al-Tamathil or the smashing/destruction of statues (idols) When the Professor was taken to task he ran away and stated that he will have nothing to do with anyone that smear Islam! This means that the professor must be reading a different Qur'an and different Ahadith and different Sira or he is an apologist for Islam or the university that employs him is being paid Saudi and Qatari money I cannot think of any other reason It is shameful but the truth never goes away and just 2-3 years ago non of our politicians and many in academia were using the word Jihad or Jihadi but things have changed and there is no going back One final point Professor Elliott Colla calls his blog من اين لك هذا or Men Ayna Laka Hadha which is taken from a doctrine in French law (which is the foundation of the secular legal system in Egypt) and it means: Where did you get (wealth) from? This is the question by the tax man for those that are hiding their actual incomes and the process drive a very expensive sports car So my question to the Professor من اين لك هذا? and why did he ran away Dr. Pipes: Our academic institutions should not receive funds from foreign governments Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
