Your astute analysis and prediction do not go far enough. Given that our nature as humans has been evolving, if at all, at glacial speed, we are unable to learn from history and refer the road most travelled even if it repeatedly leads to an abyss.

We refuse to connect the dots and act on the obvious until our collective backs are up against the wall and even then, most reluctantly.

One ought to look beyond the surface of this looming world wide threat and identify the state sponsors and abetters of these visible organizations, at the same time making sure to make the connections to other organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas. Not leaving out the so-called "lone wolves" it is also important to look at the methodology and infrastructure that is key in propagating the ideology that is necessary to rally the troops so to speak.
