Denial is a fakeReader comment on item: Why Politicians Pretend Islam Has No Role in ISIS Submitted by Lars Nielsen (Denmark), Mar 10, 2015 at 06:37 During WWII, it was common policy to distinguish between germans and nazis. The idea was to convince germans, that the allied only fought the nazis, not the germans. In this way, allied leaders tried to persuade germans to dismiss Hitler. The tactic worked well, because as the germans began to lose, more and more germans lost faith in the Führer, and began wondering, if they could make a deal with the allies. The most prominent result was, when high ranking officers tried to murder Hitler on july 20th 1944. Although unsuccesfull, it is a sign, that the tactic worked. The question is, whether it works on muslims today. My expectation is, that many muslim leaders are afraid of islamists trying to overthrow them. They may therefore use western whitewash of islam as an argument against islamists preaching, that western powers are enemies of islam.
